• The numbers in the test environment are listed according to USA standards. Vipps is a Nordic/European solution. Does this mean I have to reconfigure WooCommerce to test this, or can I just use the numbers with a comma instead of a period?

  • Hi!

You should be able to use the number format that is set in WooCommerce itself. The number format in the app is controlled by Vipps and is outside the reach of this plugin.

So, when you are setting up a webshop for Norway, you have to use comma as decimal separator. And you do not get the result that is listed with the test values. I do not feel comfortable moving forward without getting the expected results…
The number format i Wocommerce is set up depending on what country your shop operates from. And that effects how you enter the amounts for a product. And that format is what will be forwarded to the Vipps payment plugin. From there, I have no idea what happens. But it is concerning that the test environment for a Nordic/European plugin is set up with USA standard. It should be natural to use the Nordic standard unless Vipps is available for USA?

I am not 100% familiar with the test environment. On monday the lead developer of the plugin will be back from vacation, so he will look into your request.

Thank you very much! Totally forgot that a lot of people are on vacation in Norway these days. I am sitting in a different part of the world with winter!

You should be able to test everything with a period separator if that’s the correct setting for your locale; we use the WooCommerce formatting and number parsing features internally. Values sent to Vipps are formatted as to their specifications (periods, not commas).

There was by the way an obscure bug in the shipping setup for this which has been fixed in the very newest woocommerce setup (when using static shipping and mixing periods and commas if I recall correctly).

If you do get unexpected results with any reasonable setup, please let us know the details so we can look into it.

    I sent this by email:

We finally were able to get the response we were looking for. Not sure what my customer did before, but this time I asked to see what he was doing so I knew what he was doing.

We have now changed to live to test the real order flow and ordered one product. ??

    ——————————————–

We experienced a problem after placing the order.

If I understand it correct, we need to either click on the orange capture button in the order, or go to your website and click on capture there?

After the amount has been captured, the status of the order should have been changed automatically to “Processing”. But it is still on hold although it says the amount has been captured.

What should be the correct workflow here?

You can in the settings set the order status after payment to either “on-hold” or “processing”, depending on what is more useful for you. If using “On-hold” the order will be automatically captured when the order is set to “Processing”. If using “Processing” the order will be automatically captured on “Completed”. You can also capture manually using the button you mention – that’s for convenience and should not normally be necessary. Capturing the funds will never change the order status.

If the order for any reason *cannot* be captured when the order is set to processing/completed, the order will be set to “on-hold” (the error will be logged and the order will be annotated).

Using “on-hold” as the return status is somewhat safer, but many stores use this as a problem status (as in, “there is a problem with your order”) so we mostly recommend using “Processing” now to avoid confusing and to align better with other payment gateways, most of which use this approach nowadays.
