• Reference: PHP 8+ Compatibility

Upon activating PHP 8.2.1 (released) via Site Tools (PHP Manager), we noticed a large number (50+) of deprecated notices caused by your plugin.

What are your plans to address these deprecated notices? In some instances and when using PHP 8.2.1 (released), our website crashes depending upon the SG Optimizer settings activated.

    To replicate the issue:

    1. Install and activate the plugin, Query Monitor.
    2. Go to WP Dashboard > Click on “PHP Errors” (top menu).
    3. Result: SGO Deprecated Notices (sample)

Last, when can we expect SiteGround to change SG’s Managed PHP version in Site Tools from 7.4.X to 8.X.X?

    Thank you!

    Hello @generosus ,

Thank you for the report. I was able to recreate the reported issue and informed our plugin developers for this. We can not provide an ETA for a fix. You should monitor the changelog of the future releases of the plugin.

With this said, please note that these are only notices and not actual errors. As such, they do not ion any way cause issues with any functions in a WordPress site.

For the second part of your question: The Managed version of PHP will be switched to a higher value once we establish that most sites hosted by SiteGround are made compatible to properly support PHP 8. Currently, there are still many sites that are not working well enough with PHP 8 and it is up to their developers to make their code fully compatible with the latest versions of PHP.

    Update:

We are currently using WP 6.1.1 and PHP 8.2.4 (activated via SiteGround’s Site Tools).

When does SiteGround plan to fix its deprecated PHP 8.2.X notices? There are approximately 82 deprecated notices that need to be addressed.

    Details: https://prnt.sc/4l8abAiUTEfz

PHP 8.2.X was officially released 08 DEC 2022.

Surprisingly, all other plugins we’re using are generating less than 20 deprecated notices with PHP 8.2.4.

    Thank you ??

I have checked the status of the case and we are still working on it. At this stage, we cannot provide an ETA.

    Best Regards,
