object and embed tags in IE

  • I’m trying to embed PDF files in WordPress pages via html using the object or embed tags. However, this doesn’t seem to be working right in IE8 and some other browsers.

    Using the object/embed tags work perfectly in Chrome and Firefox (PC) but will not load in IE8 (PC) or Chrome (MAC).

    However, putting the code in a blank HTML page and loading it works fine. Problem seems specific to WordPress – tried on different installs of different versions of WP and reproduced same problem.

    Can’t use Google Docs to embed due to cookies issue (posted about all over the place).

    Thoughts?
