Like putting on the subscription form, that you have to obligatorily mark “I accept the Privacy Policy” now that it is shortly requested by the RGPD.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

We are currently under planning to implement GDPR on all our plugins. I will get back to you once we have an update on it.

Hello! Can you advise on the status of this? With only 9 days to go, we want to make sure it’s ready to go, or do we need to get a new plugin?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    I Second this.. ??
IMPORTANTLY..to add it is not just a consent checkbox required but a preference link alongside the unsubscribe link to give full administration access to the recipients subscriber detais on your Db so they can see their personal details with the option to update them in full.

Lead time is needed if you plan to use another plugin especially if the new plugin is utilising a third party mail server to deliver your content, this would then mean you would need to aquire a new DPA for delivery from that third party server with all your current subscribers to stay compliant.(i.e. mailchimp)

This is a great plugin and I will donate to it’s development if it complys fully. Mails are sent from your hosts server so you have better control and no ads etc etc so fingers crossed that we get enough time to apraise your subscribers if not.. ??

The thing with the additional checkbox (“I accept the Privacy Policy”) seems to be a very common misunderstanding: Several lawyers have confirmed that such a checkbox is not compulsory. The GDPR does not contain a corresponding specification. The user only has to be clearly informed about the privacy policy and especially about his right to object – in detail:
    – what kind of newsletter content the recipient has to expect,
    – from whom the newsletters are sent,
    – how the revocation can be made (for example by specifying a contact or email).

The approval then takes place by actively filling in the email and clicking the button, and confirm again in the Double Opt-In procedure. An additional checkbox to take note of the privacy policy is not necessary.

The sign off notice (link or contact) must also be included in the email if the subscriber gets a newsletter.

    @mschuetz, all,

Agreed as regards the check box, (“I accept the Privacy Policy”) is wrong it needs to state “Consent” My second was in support of GDPR compliance in general.

Consent, that is to say “you agree to the collection of personal data.”

then as you have stated, there is the double opt in already employed.

Then it would be best for ease of administration on both sides to employ the method below..

“Icegram” could allow the users to access and update their own personal details stored in “email subscribers” Db stored on your website (i.e the individual subscriber info name ,email only )

A simple editable popup gained via a preference link on the bottom next to the unsubscribe link which is sent to the subscribers own mailbox.. simples..

This gives the user access to administer their own address details and remove them if they wish.

Otherwise you will be faced with huge admin bill dealing with all the rights the user has requests manually via email.. lol ??
The user will have to send an email to the website requesting the change as they would have to for all the other rights they have too as listed below.

These are the core base rights.. apologies if you already know them.. ??

? Right to be forgotten: An individual may request that an organisation delete all data on that individual without undue delay.

? Right to object: An individual may prohibit certain data uses.

? Right to rectification: Individuals may request that incomplete data be completed or that incorrect data be corrected.

? Right of access: Individuals have the right to know what data about them is being processed and how.

? Right of portability: Individuals may request that personal data held by one organisation be transported to another.

Personally I don’t want to have to spend time managing the headache of the requests that will start to build as people start to realise that you (the website owner) has to comply and I don’t want to risk a huge fine if a complaint is made as there is no room (leeway) to accommodate adjustment as this has already been in the making for the past 2 years.(agreement made back in 2016)

So I hope that “Icegram” put this to bed with what they are going to do to accommodate GDPR on this plugin, as they are pushing it close to the edge.. 8 days and counting….
