Odd/Even number of posts with wide first post

I have Chosen Pro, and it’s set to use an extra-wide first post, two equal columns. In my Settings:Reading panel I have it set to show 11 posts per page.

The home page looks fine, one wide post at the top and ten rows of two posts each above the footer.

But on the second page, there are ten rows of two with the row at the bottom only showing one.

It looks odd, even like that’s the end of the posts. In the functions.php code it looks like this should be managed automatically, but it isn’t.
