oEmbed Provider Whitelist and wordpress.com

So, I plan to follow the instructions at a previous thread (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/oembed-internal-whitelist) to add my employer’s site as a oEmbed-capable media site, but I have a quick question: does the change to the www.ads-software.com whitelist “cascade” to the wordpress.com whitelist? Do I need to contact someone there to get the site whitelisted for embedding? Is the short code plugin process necessary to get embedding clearance for wordpress.com sites?
