Hi, all of my instagram oEmbeds that don’t include captions stopped working today.

The Instagram oEmbeds option is turned on and the embeds worked before today.

Adding the embed code including captions into an html block works, copying the instagram post link works (embeds the post with the full caption), but if I untick the include caption option when getting the embed code from instagram I get the “view this post on instagram” embed.

Is there a reason this has stopped working, and is there a way to embed an instagram post without including the caption?

    Thanks

    Hi @benchern,

Thank you for contacting us! Could you send me an example of a URL for a post you are embedding that includes a caption and then the URL of another post that does not include the caption and is not working so we can test this further on our end?

    Thanks!
    Louis

Was a solution for this issue found?

I am not sure if captions are exclusive to the issue I am experiencing.

Instagram embeds function properly in the editor (visual tab of classic editor) however on published post all Instagram embeds show the visual outline of an Instagram post with the text “View this post on Instagram” overlayed where the image would appear.

    Hey @zanedefazio,

The standard way to include oEmbeds include captions when used with our plugin. We are looking at whether we can include an option to not include captions, however this generally an option when using the HTML embed option on Instagram which is not related to our automatic oEmebd embed functionality. As for the issue you are running into with a post not being visible on the site and you are asked to view it on Instagram, this can be related to the specific content of the post (such as if it is limited by copyright) or there was an error properly loading the iFrame on the device you are viewing it on.

For us to look at your issue closer, please send us a support request on our website using the form found here. When doing so please include the System Info which is found in the Help page in the plugin settings.

    Many thanks!
