@robnalexpress – it may be because you opted to “Disable Inline CSS” in the admin panel. Did you? If so, the images won’t float left within the div and therefore will appear as you have described. To fix that, un-check the disable inline css and then clear the cache. It should be good to go then.

v2.0 will make it easier to style the box with the addition of a theming engine.

@donald Gilbert- Thanks for the quick reply. Un-checking disable inline css did the trick. Replacing wp-fb-fanbox with your plugin raised my Yslow score from 79 to 85, but for some reason I took a hit on Page Speed score from 84 to 79!? Hmmmmm. Everything seems to involve a trade-off. Thanks so much for all your work and making this plugin available!

    No prob Rob. ??

Try running the page speed test after refreshing the page a couple times, just so we can be sure everything is cached properly. It should be good.

    I’m glad you like it!

Donald- If I refresh the page, Page Speed score jumps from 77 to 83, but when I revisit the page it’s back to 77. I’m using W3TC, FWIW, and that has been a great caching plugin. To my eye the sites are loading much faster, not having to wait on Facebook every time, except for the Sexy Bookmarks connection.

    Sites are: https://trianglehomesuccess.com/ and https://trianglenewhome.com/

This is a multisite (2 sites) on a shared host. Always looking for ways to speed things up.

    Ok – makes sense.

This plugin is actually the perfect companion to W3TC, since it caches the contents of the iframe, which W3TC is then able to cache. (from what I understand, W3TC doesn’t cache iframe content)

Thanks – because you reminded me of another thing I was planning on adding to v2.0, and that’s W3TC integration so that my plugins cache will refresh on the same interval as W3TC.

Playing nice with W3TC would be awesome! It’s great to see someone trying to do things without slowing everything down in the process. Lately I’m noticing that many of the prettiest sites are also the slowest- and it doesn’t have to be that way!

Is there a setting to allow viewers to visit the facebook page, as in the wp-fb-fanbox? I suppose I can just throw a hyperlink into the widget title.

The “Become a Fan” text links to the fan page in a new window.

Getting a different hover effect on my 2 sites. On this site the name becomes italicized. On this site I get a double underline. Any suggestions?

Solved: It was just my theme settings.

@donald Gilbert- On a multisite, do you recommend network activation of the plugin or by individual sites?

i like the plug-in, but i still want to have it look like the official facebook fan-box. has anyone done this? can you send me your css and tell me how to implement it?

    (@dilbert4life)

@robnalexpress – network activation would be fine, as the settings are saved in each blogs wp_#_options table.

@danmichel – I just released v1.5 which includes a CSS guide, but nothing specific to making it look like the official. Stay tuned, as I’m sure someone (maybe even me) will put that together soon.

    Thnx for the plugin.

    Two remarks:
    1) The class .widget_FBCache isn’t there (sometimes?).
    2) Maybe you should add the following text in the install text: CHMOD the folder “cache” to 707 or higher.

    Donald,

On a future release, could you add a ‘like’ button?
