On the Shopp support website, https://shopplugin.net/support/ , whether you are logged in or not, all the links just go back to the home page and search does not work. I have not tried opening a ticket. I like having notes here on www.ads-software.com for clarity and future reference.

Our specific problem is that WP Dashboard displays the usual “Buy a Shopp Supprt Key!” button, but also says this:

An add-on update is available for PayPal Pro 1.2.9

Whereas the page for the addon says 1.2.9 is the current version: https://shopplugin.net/store/paypal-pro/

We paid $25 for it a few years ago, and it now costs $45. Maybe that is the problem! ??

We do have one oddity. The add-on is installed as

    wp-content/plugins/shopp/gateways/PayPalPro/PayPalPro/
(yes, twice) with the two php files in the last directory:

    wp-content/plugins/shopp/gateways/PayPalPro/PayPalPro/PayPalPro.php
    ver. 1.2.9

    wp-content/plugins/shopp/gateways/PayPalPro/PayPalPro/PayPalExpres.php
    ver. 1.2.2

Maybe whoever did the unzipping was not supposed to double up on the nesting and that is affecting version detection? The site works, payments go through, but that could be due to a more resilient codepath than what’s used for version checking. Just a guess. Or maybe it’s marketing gone wild, or a bug, whatever. I don’t want to change it!

You could change the PayPal Express version number inside the PayPalExpress.php file to match the PayPalPro.php file and it won’t hurt anything. The system is likely picking up the version number from PayPal Express and determining it needs an update.

Sorry about the “marketing gone wild”! That certainly wasn’t the intention.

    Thanks very much Jonathan!
