Offset Posts

I have a layout that shows the two most recent posts and I want the older posts to be included in the slider, but don’t use <?php the_ID(); ?> to set my post ID’s so the “exclude” option isn’t effective.
I have seen the “offset” option in other sliders, would this be achievable?
