• So often I have to deactivate the plugin via FTP to get access as administrator. This happens on more sites I care for. Wordfence is not reliable. I would never buy the pro version because of this. When you don’t know how to deactivate the plugin manually, you have a big problem.

  • Thanks for your thoughts about Wordfence. Without any context to what happened I’m unable to give you any real insight here. You might have been locked out because you mistyped your password and your brute force settings are too restrictive. It could have been an issue where your server is behind a proxy or cloud firewall and Wordfence was seeing the IP of the proxy or cloud service and not the actual visitor IP and it was locking you out because of that. It could have been a number of things. These settings are all user configured. The default settings are purposely set liberally so this doesn’t happen.

Regardless, a support ticket or forum post would have got you the support you needed to solve that for you. Unfortunately, the www.ads-software.com forum rules prevent us from doing support in the reviews section. Feel free to post at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordfence/ if you still need assistance. If not, we wish you well in whatever support solution you choose going forward.
