OG Image tag does not work

    I have my Yoast SEO setting configured to create OG image tags for Facebook. But in another forum thread a user told me the OG tag only appears on my home page, and not on individual post pages. Images are displaying properly in Facebook. But not in Twitter or Reddit. Posts to these platforms show an empty thumbnail image. How do I get the tag on each individual post page?

    Hi @richards1052

    When viewing the page source of the page you’ve specified you need help with, it looks like your open graph tags such as og:image are being handled by another plugin (Grow Social by Mediavine) and not the Yoast SEO plugin.

    We recommend that you disable the open graph output from that other plugin, make sure you’ve enabled the open graph data from the Yoast SEO plugin, and set the correct image, title, and description in the Facebook section of the social tab in the Yoast SEO meta box and it should give you the expected output – https://yoast.com/help/custom-open-graph-tags/

    You can then test this on Facebook’s Sharing Debugger Tool and scrape the URL and check if you are then getting the expected output.

    My problem isn’t with Facebook, which seems to pick up thumbnails for individual posts fine. The problem is with Reddit and Twitter which aren’t posting any thumbnails at all.

    I have Grow enabled because I use it to post links of my posts to social media platforms directly in my site. I’m not sure how to disable OG output from Grow. And I’m concerned if I do, it will hinder in some way posting links to my posts in social media.

    The Twitter metadata is also coming from your Grow Social by Mediavine plugin. Since both the Twitter and Open Graph data output is coming from that plugin, we suggest you reach out to their support team for further assistance regarding the unexpected social preview when sharing your links.

    You can view the page source of that page you’ve shared with us and you can check the output from their plugin (starting on line 12) and the output from our plugin (starting on line 34 – which does have some Twitter data, but not the data required specifically for the social preview)

    There was a conflict between the Yoast OG setting and the Grow plugin I was using. When my web host disabled the Grow plugin’s OG function, then Yoast’s took over and the image previews returned to Twitter & Reddit.
