When I publish a post using the WordPress REST API with a featured image included, Yoast isn’t adding the og:image property to the post, it adds it only after manually updating the post.

    Hello @chlitto

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. Since the Yoast REST API is currently read-only, and doesn’t currently support?POST?or?PUT?calls to update the data, you will need to manually update the post for your changes to reflect. You can read more here.

But I’m talking about WordPress REST API, not Yoast. Yoast isn’t doing its thing when a post is being published in a different way than manually on the website. And from what I remember this worked a few months ago for XML-RPC so it seems like a bug in the newer version.

I’ve checked the database and Yoast is creating a row with information about the post, but the og:image information are missing.

Is there a difference if you perform these steps:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.
