We gave a good 3 months notice (betas and release candidates) to 3rd parties to get their stuff compatible. This didn’t happen in some cases – which is a shame – but its not completely the fault of WC.

All Woo stuff was carefully tested and made compatible before launch (I personally went through 150+ plugins!).

What do you mean it lost countries and shipping methods though? Not heard that one..

Mate, you may have best plugin for WP, and it is excellent, but tell me what kind of business can stand week (s) of downtime, mess pages, no sale at all … Simply this is wrong platform. OK, is not your fault, but tomorrow will be some other plugin, of WP itself. How can I concentrate on my business if nearly everyday I have to backup, tar, test and then update plugin (s), and pray God that it works and I don’t miss anything while testing.
As I said it’s my fault choosing WP platform. I love WP have six blogs on WP but for eCommerce is nonsense!

I disagree. Given; the problems with 3rd party code + WC was an annoyance for some – however, if this teaches anything, its that a good staging environment to test updates is key (especially with eCommerce, of any platform).

Even in my Magento days, plugins (modules) used to cause the same kinds of issues – so staging was needed then too.

Quite simply, if your business relies on a platform, don’t wing it – test.

I disagree with the OP entirely. I upgraded without any problems, and while it DID cause some issues with my (custom bespoke) theme, they were easily fixed with some basic search and replace in my style sheets, all of which was clearly documented.
