New WP user here, old (non WP) existing site being redesigned with Elementor, but old site has to be kept online for 301 Redirects and htaccess to maintain SEO position, so how do we install WP without losing the old existing pages?

Can we develop newWP site as a staging site then Push Live on top of old (non WP) existing site?
    or
    ?

    Hi David!

To use the WP STAGING plugin, both the live and staging sites must be WordPress sites.

I think keeping the old sites’ files and redirecting requests to the new site via .htaccess as you mentioned, then installing a new WordPress in parallel to this old site would be the best thing to do.

    Thanks,
    Alaa

ok, thanks but how do i do it in “Parallel” if both need to have the same domain name?

You can install WordPress in a sub-directory, then your hosting provider can help you move this WordPress to the root of your server when you are ready.

Or you can do it on a sub-domain as well; check this answer; it could be helpful in that case.
