Hi, i have updated a few days ago one of my websites https://www.ego-alterego.com to 3.1 version of wordpress. Since then (with or without a direct connection with the update) posts from the past (november 2010 for example) re-appear on the homepage with their posting dates changed into present date. I have read that there is a plugin available that does this but i don’t have anything like this installed.

On this website i have posted graphic related posts and a few youtube videos. I noticed that it seems that videos/music/lyrics tagged posts seem to be moved as new, but maybe this is only a coincidence.

What should i do, does anybody else have this problem?
    Thank you.

  • Have you tried:

    – checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Thank you for your answer.

The problem is that i have many plugins for different purposes. 15-20. To deactivate all and reactivate one by one and even activate one while deactivate another so that they won’t get in conflict between them would mean to spend about 20-to many more days just trying to see if this is the reason. The auto-posting has a random manifestation, meaning it does not happen daily or at the same hour. How could i notice which or what plugin affects this? Unfortunately i can’t see this as a solution :(.

I will try to manually reinstall the last wp update, hope that will solve it. Thank you for the link too, i have read it but not yet sure what to try or not…

Did anybody else had this problem since the last update?

    Thank you.

I’m sorry but you’re going to HAVE to turn off your plugins if you ever hope to debug this. That is standard debugging methodology for anything. Back out your changes, keep it simple, and make sure it’s not your server. Once you know it IS a plugin, you go forward. It’s a pain in the ass, but we have all had to do it at least once.

the settings of one of the seo plugins were causing this behaviour on a few sites just recently – just can’t remember the exact plugin.

PS. So it was not a bug but a feature. One that i missed. Thank you again for the time and for suggestions and help.
