Old Twentyten to new TwentyTenPlus

TwentyTen is apparently the oldest theme still supported by WordPress. There’s a reason: it’s a very good-looking and versatile theme. It’s clean, and without a lot of fiddling, it makes a good-looking web site — but only on a tablet or a laptop/desktop. TwentyTen doesn’t render very well on a handheld (i.e. a phone). If re-issued as a new theme with WordPress, perhaps as TwentyTwentyOne, then TwentyTen should get these enhancements:

1. Be made responsive so that it renders well on a handheld;
2. Full support for the block editor, along with support for the last ten years of enhancements in JavaScript, PHP, and CSS;
3. Turn the top banner that rotates pictures into a responsive slide show.

Now you have a winner, and I’d wager it would be downloaded very often. It’s still in use a decade later because it is fundamentally a good piece of work that needs to be brought up to date.
