• Resolved LogoLogics

    (@logologics)

    Hi,

After the latest update WP core, Wordfence plugins message for problems low risc:

Translation: “old WordPress core files not removed during the update”

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles-rtl.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles-rtl.min.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles.min.css`

Should we remove these files ourselfs manually ( fun when you have 100+ sites to remove it from) or will this be taken care of with the next update?

    Thanks,
    Annie

  • Let people do their work calmly. Don’t be cheeky! Calmer. We are all affected by the problem.

You can simply remove the files yourself, they’re not in use.

Or, wait for WordPress 5.8.1 (which will be finished when it’s ready), and that will remove them automatically.

Since we’re on the second page now, here’s the official report again: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/53702

@aivanov12 This was reported a month ago, asking for someone to look into the issue. So asking to be provided the ability to toggle this specific check on and off is not “cheeky”.

@macmanx Some people work with 1 or 2 sites, some people work with a couple of dozen or more. Logging into 27 different FTP sites across various web hosts that clients are using, delete the file(s) on each one, do a full regression on the entire site to make sure nothing breaks, etc, isn’t the ideal resolution. Being able to disable this specific check could be helpful.

“This specific check” is part of WordFence, not WP core. We expect the issue of leftovers to be dealt with the next WP update.

Meantime, everyone, as there’s nothing new to report and nothing not already covered above, I’m closing this topic.
