    Hi,
I successfully connected to my Google drive account and made 2 backups of a website on 2 different days. For both I chose them not to be overwritten (they got the lock icon) but now I can only see one on my google drive: the one from Aug 13th is there, the other from August 2nd is not there (even if it’s showing on Updraft WordPress backups list with the lock).

I’m 100% sure I didn’t manually delete them from my google drive account, so am I missing something? are backups from different websites going to overwrite one with the other even with the lock?
I had saved other backups of other websites months ago (and never deleted them) and they are not in google drive either.
    Thanks for claryfing

    Hi,

You can lock the bacup so it does not get deleted with the backup retention rule.

You can find your backups directly on your Google Drive account. If you are checking from your PC/Desktop then it may have not sync to your PC yet.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle,
thanks for getting back to me.
As I wrote, for both backups I chose them not to be overwritten, that is I locked them, so this is not why they got deleted (screenshot https://snipboard.io/WQBhLr.jpg).
I know where backups should be, in fact the one from August 13th is there but the other from August 2nd is not, so it’s not a matter of sync either, since the older is not there.

Did you experience any bug with the last updates?
All my backups dated prior to August 7th have disappeard and I didn’t delete them.
    thanks for helping me understand.

    Hi,

We have not received any reports about the lock function not working. Can you please update to latest version and test?

    Thanks,

    Hi
it is the lateste version. sorry to hear that you didn’t receive any reports because this would have explained the problem.

If we cannot detect the issue in my case, i’ll change to a different plugin because it’s too risky to take backups and not found them after a few months ??
    thanks

    Hi,

I have done some test on my local machine and can’t seem to replicate the issue. Though I will raise this to our developers and see if they can find any problem.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I keep having issues with old backups.
This is with a different Google Drive account, and a different website.
As you can see from sceenshot https://snipboard.io/7HX5TG.jpg
backup is supposed to be saved in Google Drive, and is locked.
But when I go to look for it in the folder, it’s not there. In fact I cannot even download it and it says “no copy present”.

Any idea why older backups are disappearing from Google Drive with no manual action from my part? This is a big issue, since all my websites (100+) relies on Updraft Plus backups.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy the backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Hi,
there is no copy of the backup log for this backup, as you can see from the same screenshot. I don’t know why but it’s not keeping in memory the older logs.
I can send you a copy of the last backup log, if this is useful.
    Let me know,
    thanks

    Hi Alessandra,

The thing to do is to find the filename of the missing file (you can get this by double-clicking on the backup date in the list of backups), and then download all your log files (from wp-content/updraft, or from email reports you’ve been sent) from all your sites, and search in those logfiles for that filename, to see if any of them have interacted with it.

Were any of your sites cloned, one from the other? If so, is it possible that you marked the backup as locked on one site, but not on the cloned version? In that case, the cloned version didn’t know it was locked, so could have deleted it.

If there is no mention of the file in any of your logs, then something else, external to UpdraftPlus, deleted it.

    David
