older xml export file to import into newer wp ?

    please assist

    I have an xml file of posts from a previous install of wp (2.5 or thereabouts)

    however when I try to import into wordpress 2.7 it says
    “sorry, would you like to try again.” and the import fails.

    I have tried rolling back all the way to version 2.0 to try and import, all with the same result or similar error message.

    any ideas?

    its an xml file, not a wxr file

  • Yes a WXR file ultimately is an XML file…

    I would have thought a 2.5 export would import into 2.7.

    But if you setup 2.5 and imported to that, I’d say that should work or something has happened to the XML file.
