• After updating to 2.6.2 a couple weeks ago the plugin created a new folder for backups. Unfortunately, it failed to exclude the old folder and apparently was trying to add 7GB of old backups to the new file backups.

After a few downgrade/upgrade cycles and edits in the exclude dialog, it now seems to be configured correctly. “Run Now” tested out fine. Fingers crossed that the scheduled backups work normally again.

Working normally again as far as I can tell after adding an exclude.

Actually, after adding the exclude manually, the script added it as a default, so the script seems to have a built-in feature for this, but it wasn’t triggered automatically when I updated. I removed my (now duplicate) exclusion and all was well.

By the way, I’ve noticed the Close button does not seem to work correctly in 2.6.2, after submitting the change and recomputing the list of excluded files, it seems to stay open. Once the progress circle disappears, which I think indicates it is done saving changes, I hover my picture and use Edit My Profile to get back to the dashboard. There seems to be a bug here.

Same problem here, for seemingly no reason on one of my sites I suddenly went from 13.8MB full site backups to nearly 4GB full site backups. I’m not quite sure what to do to get this worked out other than to try uninstalling and reinstalling and trying different backup settings.

If anyone has any ideas as to what is going on here please feel free to comment, I’d really appreciate it.

Alright, so looking into this a bit deeper I was able to add an exclude for a particularly large image file that was inadvertently added to my site’s wp-content directory. This was completely my fault and now with the added exclude of that folder my backup file size is back to what it should be. Sorry for the confusion.
