Yes I deactivated the plugin for now. For those of you that want to reproduce this the only way to see the problem is by viewing your sites robots.txt via google webmaster tools.

WordPress serves a virtual robots.txt file. One does not exist in the root directory of any installation. If you view the file directly you won’t see the garbled message. Check it out in webmaster tools…Then turn the ‘like’ plugin off. Problem goes away.

So yea… i’ve deactivated the plugin. Hopefully the author will be able to fix this soon.

Man… If all my plugins worked 100% correct 100% of the time… I’d probably be president.

    Will some others verify?

ive checked the facebook page for the makers of this plugin GB-world and others have said they experienced the same thing and deactivating it fixed the problem, im not sure if it has for mine on webmaster tools it still shows this jibberish under Parse results, but viewing it directly doesn’t show like you said so how Can i fix this problem? I have deleted and deactivated the plugin

Webmaster tools is a bit slow. They normaly crawl you robots.txt once a day for high traffic…and maybe once a week for lower traffic.

If you use feedburner or an xml-sitemaps plugin it will ping google for you but they will only crawl your robots.txt once a day max.

It’s kinda like waiting for DNS to propagate. Once Google decides our robots.txt isn’t full of crap anymore they will begin to start re-indexing again. It might take a week or to to recover traffic honestly…

My traffic went down to almost 1/3 its normal rate.

BTW… to the plugin author… I got a lot of ‘ZEND’ errors too. That was only in conflict with wp-stats.
