  • Actually, it doesn’t. Let’s be specific.

Your link above: paulfromcanada.com goes to:

    paul.buildtolearn.net/blog/

When I scroll your home page and click Login, that goes to: paulfromcanada.com/wp-login.php

What changes did you make in phpmyadmin?

I followed the tutorial someone posted above. I went into my wp database and under the options table, under the siteurl table I changed from “https://www.paulfromcanada.com” to “https://paul.buildtolearn.net/blog” and under the home table I made sure it was also set to “https://paul.buildtolearn.net/blog”

    I’m stumped.

As Vkaryl suggested previous, you may have to wait for Podz to help out here.

ok, but I honestly don’t have time. my teacher’s marking my site tomorrow morning, so I’m pretty much screwed

All I can suggest is to go back to your hosting company, get in contact with them via phone and go from there.

    I truly am sorry.

PaulRitter: one last possibility – can you get an export dump (backup) of your database? If so, you can reinstall wp somewhere (in other words, pick one and stick with it!), and import the dump to replace your work.

If that’s possible, go to https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/backup/ to start; and https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/restore/ to finish.

ok… This might seem like a stupid question, but did you remember to save your changes?

Also, do you have more than one database (one on paulfromcanada.com and another one on paul.buildtolearn.net)? If so, what’s in your wp-config.php? Does it point to the right database?

I only have one WP database, it’s called wrdp1.

I’ll try and do the thing you suggested above using those tutorials, I’ll let you know how it goes soon

if you have any other ideas please post them

I did the “export database” thing and clicked go, and if gave me a big page of code that I don’t understand…is that what’s supposed to happen? what do I do now?

EDIT: nevermind, I just hadn’t checked the “save file as” box so it wouldn’t let me download it

now I have the .sql file, do I then go through the second tutorial you posted above?

    Thread Starter paulritter

    (@paulritter)

another quick question though; the database I just downloading by “exporting” (via the first tutorial), if I delete all my WP database tables and restore them with the database I just exported, won’t the problem still be there? because I exported the database AFTER the problem occurred.

    anyone?

You’ll have to manually change the info in the wp-options table to the info for the new installation of wp (as to the addresses) – in other words open the .sql file in a PLAIN text editor (NOT a MS product! – if you don’t have one download notepad2 from https://www.flosfreeware.ch/) – and edit the appropriate row inside wp-options.

Read through the second tutorial – seems to me this is covered in there somewhere.

    Hi,
I had the same problem.I’ll help if you want.
This should fix it but I’ll have to show it to you… I’ll make a little movie for you and I’ll put it on my site to show you how to fix the problem, and that way you wont get confused… ?? Is that O.K ? Thanks…

    (@paulritter)

ok sounds great…post as soon as you can =D

    (@paulritter)

@vkaryl – I downloaded my database and it gave me a file with a .sql extension…I’m assuming this is the right file.

anyways, I couldn’t find anywhere in the second tutorial that talked about the wp-config tables, or maybe I missed it….if you think that’ll work, could you elaborate? I need all the suggestions I can get.
