• Hello, I have no idea how to fix this, my addy is almondsandoranges.com, and I changed my background to a new one I found on here for free. When I got it downloaded and clicked on it it would pull up an error page, saying something to the effect of the SQL was wrong? I told it to use the new appearance anyway. Bad idea. Now my page pulls up blank. I can give you my info to get into my cPanel if someone can help me out. I updated to the latest WP version thinking this would help, but no. Than I went into my cPanel and erased the background I had used, thinking maybe it would automatically go back to the other, or original one. But, no. PLEASE HELP!!! I have no idea what to do!!!

  • If you want, send me your Cpanel login info and I’ll take a look at it. educhalk[at]gmail[dot]com

Can you still log in to your admin section?

Do you remember the name of the theme? Themes do not affect the database (SQL), are you sure you saw that message?

Try disabling all plugins. If you cannot login and have ftp access to your files, simply rename the plugin folder to something else, until you are able to login. Then rename it back, and reactivate the plugins one by one.

    See if that helps.

*** Figaro, didn’t see your post, as I was typing. Sorry.

I sent you an email figaro…

    @buddha trance: No problem.

@almondsandoranges: Haven’t received anything…if you sent it to the correct address, then it may just be bouncing around the net for a bit before it gets here ??

Can someone please help me? I think Figaro is not around. I need to get my site back!

I just sent you an email. please check..

I am confused, why would you need Cpanel to change a background, and how come Cpanel can be related to a wordpress administration ?

Besides, a side remark, since you seem so keen to share one of the very fundamental login-password combos of your hosting space, you MUST make a backup of your files and of your database. Just in case.

Lastly, do you have access to your blog’s admin, it seems ? If so, try to change to a new theme…

    sabinou is right!

You can do this by yourself! Cpanel is very smart and it has backup tools, so you can restore your files to a given date. Under tools & backup in Cpanel you can find an icon named R1soft from where you can restore your home directory right before the issue has occurred. If you more explanation on this, PM me on my messenger and we will do an 1 to 1 talk. My id: cipriantudorici

    Regards

My first thought is: delete the wretched theme using FTP or the file manager of control panel and see if things turn back to default. Perhaps the theme is simply not compatible with 2.8. My guess is that Figaro plans to do something similar.

My guess is that Figaro plans to do something similar.

Yes, I planned to remove the theme — not sure what spurred all the “Cpanel” comments here, but Cpanel access just makes it easy to work on a site since it gives you access to everything.

@almondsandoranges: I’m around, I just never received an email from you.

    sabinou…
I have nothing, when you type almondsandoranges.com into the browser is come up with a totally blank page…

Seems like your core files a corrupted. Is your databse still intact?
By background I assume you mean theme, that should not affect your SQL unless it had malicios code in it.

If your dbase is ok then you can just uploda a fresh copy of wordpress core files, but remember to retain your config.php.

Failing that drop me a line [email protected] and I can lend a hand.
