This bug appears only when using the Android native browser. Visiting nachocoller.com, I use Mailchimp subscribe form on the footer. The only field on the form is the email address.

When the user tries to type the email address, the browser will focus on the field for an instant, and the Android keyboard will show up… but then the keyboard disappears, and the focus is lost.

As a result, the user is not able to type her email address, nor subscribe to the list.

  • Hey cesargmi,

Thanks for the post! I went ahead and opened up your site on an Android device and saw the same funkiness on my end. That behavior certainly isn’t expected and we’d love to take a closer look and dig in. In order to do so, could you please get back to us with the following details?

    – The WordPress theme currently being used
    – The PHP version currently installed
    – What other plugins are currently installed?

Thanks! We look forward to hearing back and investigating further.

    Hey César,

Thank you for getting back to us with that information. I went ahead and attempted to replicate that same environment on my end, but I was unable to install all of the mentioned plugins.

That being said, typically when folks run into issues like the one mentioned here it has to do with a Theme or plugin conflict. To keep the troubleshooting process clean and systematic, in your own site could you please first try switching themes back to a default WordPress theme to see if that clears the issue up? If the issue persists, the next step would be to disable all active plugins aside from the MailChimp List Subscribe plugin. After ensuring that the plugin works fine on Android when using a default WordPress theme and with all other installed plugins deactivated, I would then recommend reactivating the existing plugins one by one and testing for functionality to narrow down where the conflict is occurring.

Thanks! Feel free to respond back here with the title of the plugin that is causing funky behavior and I will pass that information along to our plugin’s developers for further investigation.

    Warmest Regards,

    Pearl

    Hi,

With the default Twenty Sixteen theme it seems to work fine. All other plugins are still active.

    What next?

    Thanks,
    César

    Hey César,

Thank you for that! It sounds like the Psychiatrists theme may not be playing well with our plugin. To be totally sure that this is the issue, could you please reply back once more with a screenshot of our plugin’s “Settings” page? If you don’t feel comfortable sharing that information here, that is certainly fine, too! In that case the screenshot can be sent on over to [email protected] with the subject like “WP theme conflict” and then reply back here on this post once that is done. That will notify us that the screenshot has been sent over to us.

    Thanks!

Here you go. Sorry, it is in Spanish:

    Mailchimp plugin settings

    Hi again,

Thank you so much! It does seem that the theme itself is not currently compatible with the plugin, so I went ahead and passed this information along to our developers to investigate further. While we won’t be able to provide an ETA for resolution, we will use this information to see what can be done on our end to eliminate or reduce conflicts in the future. In the meantime, I would recommend using an alternate theme or plugin.

Thank you – please let us know if you have any other questions we can help out with.

    Pearl
