I noticed this warning on top of the page. I deactivated the plugin.

IP Geo Block: Once you logout, you will be unable to login again because your country code or IP address is in the blacklist. Please check your Validation rule settings.

Version 3.0.7 is what I was running. IO had not done the upgrade

  • I have done the upgrade and I still get that error message, and my country code scans as ZZ.

Same here … updated to 3.0.7.2, and still have the error …

On two of my sites I was able to delete all plugin settings when uninstalling, and then reinstalled the plugin. Then I could get the US code to show instead of ZZ, and the plugin seemed to work.

I’ve also been locked out of two sites. On those sites I’ve renamed the plugin in CPanel to regain access to the site, and then deleted the plugin and went into the database to drop the tables.

I attempted to reinstall 2x but still had the plugin blocking use once activated again. I couldn’t find any rows in the Options table that were left behind that might be causing the issue.

I noticed this problem today when one of my clients called to tell me their web site was down. I did not get Jetpack notifications the site was down because the default www. version of the site was still online. Anyhow I had the same error message in my WP console.

Is this is a bug with the plugin? Why did this all of a sudden change? Does the plugin refer to a country code and Bad IP table someplace that has been hacked or corrupted?

For now I have deactivated the plugin since I have no choice. If this situation is not resolved, does anyone recommend a similar plugin?

    Dear all,

Sorry about the issues in 3.0.7.x. This plugin (same as others) depends on the free version of IP address geolocation databases from Maxmind and IP2Location. In the case of 3.0.7.x of this plugin, one of those DBs had been switched to the new one because the previous legacy DBs will not be maintained in near future.

But the new one seems not to be the same accuracy as the old one at this moment. Additionally, 3.0.7.x had a bug that the fallback mechanism could not work properly.

I believe that the issue had been solved in 3.0.8. So I hope you to upgrade to it.

And I think we should never forget to thank Maxmind and IP2Location for providing these great products for free!

Once I’d close this topic, but please feel free to open a new one if you still have some issues with 3.0.8.

    Thanks for your kind understanding.
