    Hello
I am setting up a gallery on a page, just a simple one with a table with image thumbnails that links to the post with that image.
I would like for that page to be a single column, just like it looks when it is a draft.
How can I make it as a choice every time I make a new page?
(I installed a plugin because maybe removing featured image would help, but that plugin doesn’t remove the image)

    Hi @chilisky,

Pages/posts will appear as one column as long as they don’t have a featured image assigned to them. If they do have a featured image, then it’ll appear as the first column on the page with the content in a second, right hand column.

Posts that have the Image post format assigned to them will also appear as one column, regardless of whether or not they have featured images.

Let me know if that helps to clarify how the theme works by default.

If the above explanation doesn’t help, please share a link to your site and the specific pages/posts you’re having trouble getting set up.

    Thanks!

I couldn’t remove the featured picture, it would keep on assigning the first one in the post. After you post I noticed that the option to post in image form format was/is gone. I disabled some plugins and is now able to remove the featured image, but post image format is still not there.
When I remove the featured image, the page is no longer centred.
This is the url with the problem page https://www.graphiclabs.dk/galleri/

I should add, that I have the option to post image format on posts but not on pages.

    Hi @chilisky,

I’m glad you were able to pinpoint the plugin that was causing issues with your featured images! Deactivating your plugins one by one is always a good first troubleshooting step.

After you post I noticed that the option to post in image form format was/is gone.

The option of assigning the Image post format is only available for posts, not pages. The URL you gave is to a page, which is why the option of assigning a post format isn’t available for it.

For posts: The option should be visible via the Format module.

That module can generally be found to the right hand of the editor. If you can’t see it, select the Screen Options tab in the upper right and then check the option next to Format to get the module to display.

When I remove the featured image, the page is no longer centred.

The page you linked to appears centred to me. Here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing:

Are you seeing something else? If you can create a screenshot or detail exactly what you’re seeing, I’ll be happy to take a deeper look.

    Thanks for your replies.
Yes the gallery (galleri is Danish) is centred now, but it is so small. When it was off centred, the thumbnails were showing the size I have set, 300 x 300 max px.
Short story; after I couldn’t get the size to work in WP I went into Dreamweaver and made a table that worked, but it didn’t when it came into WP.
Is this a theme issue or a WP thing?

HTML can be fiddly. ?? Layouts won’t stay looking exactly the same when HTML is copied over from a third-party editor, such as Dreamweaver, to a WordPress theme. I recommend creating HTML directly in your WordPress editor, for that reason.

In addition, tables aren’t the best way to organise the layout of your images. They’re not intended for layout purposes and won’t optimise your images to look good across devices of all different devices.

Instead of using layouts, have you considered WordPress’ built in gallery feature? You can read more about this feature and how to set it up here:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/The_WordPress_Gallery

If you have Jetpack active then you can enable Tiled Galleries for some more styling options, also:

    https://jetpack.com/support/tiled-galleries

Galleries will work well across devices of all different sizes.

Let me know if galleries would work well for you or if there’s anything stopping you from making use of them.

    Thank you.
I decided to go with the WP gallery, it works really well.

I’m glad that worked out well for you. ??
