One database or several databases

This is actually not a problem with installations but a request for advice.
I intend to run several blogs (something from 5 to 10). What is the best procedure concerning wordpress updates, problems that might arise, etc? Dropping everything on one database with different prefixes for tables or run each on separate databases? What are the advantages and disadvantages you can see in each method?
