One full post and rest as excerpts

    Am using the Kvarken theme. I know the developer hasn’t answered any questions on the forum in a long time, so I don’t know if this is up to date. But this particular theme would suit me very well and I wish I could use it.

    I’d like to have the latest post in full and rest of them (5 in total on the front page) as excerpts. For the moment I can only get all articles in full, even if I have defined in WP that I’d like them as excerpts (just trying if that would work, but it doesn’t).

    I have looked and found some discussions about what to put where, stuff like:
    <?php if (!i) the_content(); else the_excerpt(); i=1; ?>
    but I can’t seem to be able to put it anywhere right – I get an error message every time.

    Is it me or the theme…?

  • Hi! As you know Kvarken has not been updated for more than a year. To fix this issue and to follow the latest theme guidelines and best practices, the theme would need a complete rewrite. Unfortunately I don’t have that kind of time at the moment.

    To show some posts as full posts and some as excepts you would need a custom query.

    Ok.. so I suppose I have to give up – only looked for 100000 themes to find a good one.
