One missing thumbnail

Hi James,

It worked when we changed images, but the odd thing is it was an even smaller image that worked. In other words, the dimensions of both photos is 750 x 500, and the size of the one that does not display is 81k, whereas the one that displays fine is 73k.

If all else fails we’ll just switch photos, but I am curious to know what’s going on here. The broken one is back, for now.

Edit: I meant to clarify that it is the image in the Popular/Trending/Top Posts and Pages widget, the thumb image in the blog roll in the screenshot is working fine either way, and that image is also not shown by Jetpack.

It’s possible that our CDN just wasn’t able to cache the first image at the time, but we did on the second try.

File and image size generally doesn’t have anything to do with that.

It does appear to be working now again though, unless I’m totally misunderstanding the issue, which is always possible. ??

When I put the 2nd image back, it breaks, but the moment I put the other, instantly displayed. So yea, I real mystery.

I might leave it broken for another day or so, then we’ll switch back to the one that works, but my missus really likes the one that breaks….I think it as 2 more basil leaves… ??

When it’s broken, what’s the full URL of the image that doesn’t load?

That will help us investigate, and we may just have to clear the cache for it. ??

About the Jetpack cache. Does this not get cleared automatically at some point?

What it is interesting is when I right click on the broken image and try to open it in a new tab, I get:

We cannot complete this request, remote server returned an unexpected status code (400)

We might have just needed to re-cache it, and the cache has now been refreshed.

Still not working, from where I’m sitting, in Belgium. Must be a problem with the local wp.com cache here in Europe. We just switched to another image and it was instantly recognised.

I think we can put this down to yet another anomaly / glitch in The Matrix…I should have known it when I saw the same black cat walk past the door, twice, in the same direction…
