    I’m using a pod template with lots of fields to render out my posts. In the markup below (taken from my template), the first <?php echo urlencode( $partner_link_url ); ?> link works, but the second doesn’t, and I can’t for the life of me work out what the problem is! The outputted HTML markup appears to be valid. Anyone have any ideas!?

    <?php
    $pod = pods( 'partner', get_the_id() );
    $partner_link_url = $pod->get_field( 'partner_link' );

    // call your taxonomy as a pod because when you extend it, it makes it a pod object
    $mytax = pods( 'partner_category' );

    $tax_category = $mytax->field( 'partner_category.name' );

    // Get terms for post using typical wordpress terms loop
    $terms = get_the_terms( $post->ID , 'partner_category' );
    // Loop over each item since it's an array
    foreach ( $terms as $term ) {
    	//do a typical fetch to get your pod fields
    	$mytax->fetch( $term->term_id );
    	$tax_sidebar_background_colour = $mytax->get_field( 'sidebar_background_colour' );
    	$tax_icon = $mytax->get_field( 'icon' );
    }
    ?>

    <div id="partner">
    	<div class="container">
    		<div class="row">

    Hi @aaran76

    Am I correct in that you are using PHP within Pod Templates?
    If so, this is deprecated.

    If you need PHP then please fully use PHP templates instead of Pod templates.

    Cheers, Jory

    Thanks for responding Jory – I wasn’t aware of this.

    The only reason I’d started using PHP really was to render hyperlinks from PODS fields as I couldn’t get them to work any other way.

    Perhaps my question should be how do I achieve the following in a PODS template without using PHP:

    <?php echo urlencode( $partner_link_url ); ?>

    Your advice would be most appreciated!

    Hi @aaran76

    You can simply use the magic tag in the template: {@partner_link}.
    If it’s an url it will be escaped, if not you could add the function like so: {@partner_link,urlencode} or {@partner_link,esc_url}.

    Cheers, Jory

    Thanks so much @keraweb – I don’t know how I missed the overloads for urlencode/esc_url!

    Works perfectly!

    You’re welcome! The best way to say thanks is to leave a 5 star review at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/pods/ and (if you’re feeling especially generous) become a Friend of Pods at https://friends.pods.io/
