One site, two active domain names

    Hello Storefront users, I wonder if anyone can help with this question…

    I have two domain names covering sites with related but different content. Let’s call them example.com and project.org. I’d like to resolve them into 1 WP site, for ease of management and to share blogs.

    Is there any way I can have, say, 30% of my pages displaying the domain name example.com and the other 70% displaying project.org. Each page would be individually linked to GA, and so each domain name would get its own SEO rank, yet it is really only one site.

    NB, it’s not just forwarding that I want from the second domain, but two active domain names on one site.

    Would be grateful for any ideas.

  • It may be possible but it wouldn’t be easy…..WordPress just isn’t designed to handle something like that but I’m not sure that any normal CMS would. The closest thing you could get to that would be running a Multisite network.

    While the 2 sites would share the same database, they would still each have their own tables that would have separate content.

    Thanks @jarretc for your reply. That’s good to know. Could you clarify a little bit more…
    Could a multisite
    (1) Share and display the same blogs in the sidebar?
    (2) Have two different domain names like example.com and project.org? Or do they have to be subsidiary domain names, like example.example.com and project.example.com?
