One-to-one chats between WP users

The functionality of One-to-one private chats between WP users is only available in the following pro version of the chat plugin and not in this free “chat” version.

I have the pro version but am having problems figuring out how to initiate a private chat. When i click on the user in the Active users list it just adds @username to the massage.
