One User Account Suddenly Won’t Switch

Have a curious development and I hope you can help. We have been using the plugin successfully for years but recently one account seems to have an issue. When you click “switch to user” it just defaults to the log in screen and there is a link that says “switch back to (admin account).” above the log in. If you click the switch back link, you get a message that says the link has expired, try again.
The customer was complaining about not being able to purchase anything so we’re trying to narrow down if this is the switch plugin or something has just corrupted his account. No major changes outside of a theme update have been performed in the last several months.
