Onepress – News Section

Hi,
I’m using Famethemes onepress. Really impressed with it so far however I’m trying to get one section to behave in a particular way – regarding the News section.
I have 4 columns displaying 4 posts with a permalink to enter each post, this is by design. However I’d like them to be “fixed” on my frontpage so I will be using the excerpt function to control the content. So I want to remove
1. the category “uncategorized” that shows on my front page for each post
2. and more importantly the permalink for each post that links through to each postSo I’m essentially turning my news section into something similar to the services section. Does anybody know what code I need to amend to achieve this?
