OneSignal loads jQuery on the frontend unnecessarily

Recently I have been optimizing my website by removing unnecessary scripts and I noticed that jQuery is still loading. I figured out that the OneSignal plugin is responsible for this: https://github.com/OneSignal/OneSignal-WordPress-Plugin/blob/master/onesignal-public.php#L61
The SDK looks like plain JS, so why is this plugin loading jQuery?
