Hi, I’m updating my SEO on my website and have a couple of issues.

    1. I’m being told: Single title: H1s should only be used as your main title. Find all H1s in your text that aren’t your main title and change them to a lower heading level!

I only have one H1 on this page, so confused with this message.

    2. Keyphrase in introduction: Your keyphrase or its synonyms do not appear in the first paragraph. Make sure the topic is clear immediately.

Several pages are showing this message but again I have placed the keyphrase in the first paragraph.

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    Caroline

    Hello Caroline,

    Sorry for the confusion.

We’ve addressed your concerns as follows.

    1. Multiple H1s
By default, the page or post title is set to H1. So if you have another H1 tag on the content body, even just one, the plugin will inform you of an extra H1 tag. Also, can you please confirm, by checking the page’s source code, if there’s only one H1?

    2. Keyphrase not in introduction
This warning is often thrown out if there is an HTML element, code, image, or whitespace around the keyphrase which is affecting Yoast’s ability to scan for it. Can you please switch to classical or code view and inspect the post and check if there’s anything above the first paragraph?

Hi, thank you for your response.

    1. Multiple H1s – I have checked and only have 1 H1 tag everything else is of a lower value.

    2. Keyphrase not in introduction – Again can’t seem to see anything to be causing this.

Thanks for your reply. Are you able to provide us with a link to the page in question so that we can review the output?

The issues may also be due to another plugin or theme conflicting with the Yoast SEO plugin. If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Hi, thank you again for responding.

I seem to be having the most issues on two pages of my site:

    1. Cazbarr – Yoast says Keyphrase not in introduction + More than one H1 – https://cazbarr.co.uk/

    2. Contact – More than one H1 – https://cazbarr.co.uk/contact/

    Thanks again for any help.

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with our plugin. Let’s see what’s going on here.

Focus keyphrase not in the first paragraph of the copy
There are some special cases where our plugin isn’t able to detect the focus keyphrase in the first paragraph. Usually, when the first paragraph is not the first element in your article (i.e. there is an image before the first paragraph). Please, refer to this help article for more information:?Warning: Focus keyphrase, not in the first paragraph.

However, this doesn’t mean that Google and other search engines won’t be able to see it, so if your first paragraph does contain your focus keyphrase, you can safely ignore this warning.

    More than one H1 headings
By default, any standard WordPress themes add the page title using the H1 heading. If you add an additional H1 heading manually on a page, there would be multiple H1 heading. As a result of that, Yoast SEO shows the multiple H1 heading warning in the content analysis.

However, other WordPress themes don’t add the page title using the H1 heading. So, when adding an additional H1 heading manually on a page, there won’t be any multiple H1 heading. However, Yoast SEO can’t detect it since it depends on the currently active WordPress theme.

So, the best option is to manually check the relevant page source code and look for the H1 heading. If you see multiple H1 heading on the relevant page, you’ll need to remove or edit the corresponding H1 heading that you have added manually on the relevant page. If you don’t see multiple H1 heading on the relevant page, you can ignore the Yoast SEO content analysis multiple H1 heading warning.

So basically Yoast is giving me false readings that I can ignore.

    Ok thanks for your help.
