Only Adds Snippet But Not
-
The Google Site Kit plugin has a serious issue. It is only adding the Google Tag Manager <head> snippet, but is not adding the <body>.

Hi @nelsonleemiller thanks for getting in touch. I’d be happy to look at this for you if you could share the following:
- Your?Site Health information?and we can investigate this further. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.
- Did this happen when first connecting Tag Manager in Site Kit or has this happened after an update?
- Do you see the same when following the troubleshooting steps here?
Let me know if you have any questions on the above.
I shared everything in the form, please check.
FYI, I had to disable the connection using the plugin since it was not working and pasted the snippets manually.
@nelsonleemiller Thanks for sharing the information. If possible, would you be able to switch back to using Site Kit to place your Tag Manager code and I can check your site source code once more to see if I can spot anything obvious.
It’s possible that there may be a conflict affecting the placement of some of the code. You can check for such a conflict by following the troubleshooting steps here. Let me know how you get on with this.
Please check now, I have removed the code snippets and allowed Google Site Kit to insert the tags.
@nelsonleemiller Thank you for doing this. I can now only see the Tag Manager code snippet in the <head> of your site and not the <body> section. It’s possible that a conflict is blocking the placement of the <body> code snippet.
Could I check with you if you followed the troubleshooting steps?here shared above to see if you see the same in your source code while in troubleshooting mode with just Site Kit active?
Can you also perform a check by going to this URL which creates a temporary WordPress site for testing. Once on the site, set up Site Kit which is pre-installed and connect the Tag Manager module. Do you see both code snippets placed on this site?
I deactivated all plugins except Google Site Kit. Please check. You already have permission and access. Please check and do what you need to get it resolved ASAP.
@nelsonleemiller?Thanks for doing this. Unfortunately, I can still only see the <head> code snippet being placed on your site. Per?forum guidelines, you should not share details to your website for us as we are unable to access them.
Were you able to see both code snippets when using the temporary URL? If yes, then this could point to an issue at host level. You can also try switching to a default WordPress theme if you haven’t tried this already to ensure there isn’t a theme conflict stripping out the code.
Well, your support is worthless then, because I literally proved that there are no conflicts, and you still have not done anything to actually help. I am a professional developer and WordPress plugin creator, I know what I am doing, and I have done everything on my end. Thanks for nothing!
And obviously no I didn’t set up a new site for you to test, that would be one of the most ridiculous things I could imagine doing. A new site would be totally different from a live site, and it would require me adding GTM for a new site and that would quite a waste of server space for nothing when we already have it installed on a live site and I already gave access through Google Forms, NOT through this forum.
Overall, your attempts at providing support have been incredibly poor and slow and not helpful. It is discouraging to see Google unwilling to invest in something that makes them so much money in return. Have a good day, the customer will now solve the issue on their own!
@nelsonleemiller Sorry to hear that and while a potential plugin conflict has been ruled out, there are other troubleshooting routes we can take to help you find the cause of this. As mentioned above, one of these would be to switch your site theme to a default WordPress theme and check once more.
It’s also possible that this could be the result of a browser extension conflict which we have seen cause similar issues in the past.
We don’t require you setting up a new site. You can use the URL shared above to create a quick temporary site with Site Kit pre-installed. Here you can connect Tag Manager using the same account/container to check if both the <head> and <body> code snippets are placed. If they are then this points to an issue with the setup. If plugin/theme/extension conflicts have been ruled out at this stage then I suspect the issue is at host level.
I am happy to continue troubleshooting with you to get to the bottom of this so please feel free to provide the answers above or ask any additional questions.
@nelsonleemiller just want to check in once more to check if you are willing to troubleshoot this further with us?
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to?open a new support topic?if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
