• Okay, I’ve got it set up so that anyone can post comments.
And I’ve got it so that nothing must be approved from users.

I’m using the latest version of WP 1.5.

Currently only the admin can post comments and only the admin can get registration pw and pw recovery emails.

Admin email is NOT the same domain as the blog is on.

    I’m lost…. Can anyone help?

  • I’m pretty new to this too, and am probably misinterpreting your question, but maybe I can aim you to a couple of things to check. First, assuming you want anyone to be able to post comments, when you write a post (or a page) make sure you check ‘allow comments.’ You can also get to this through ‘manage–>posts–>edit’.

For the registration issues, depending on exactly what you want, you check the approppriate registration boxes under ‘options–>general’. (One requires registration and login to comment. I think the other lets people register without your having to approve them. Leaving both unchecked lets people comment without any registration at all.) You enter your admin email address there too. I believe users’ enter their email addresses when they register. (Not that you need to set it up so they have to register…)

Is that anywhere in the ballpark?

    Nope, sorry.

All of the settings are correct to have this work.
It is actually working on another site I have running the exact same setup.

Got a link to see your blog?

I’m checking folder and file permissions to see if it’s an issue right now.

Just noticed that only one person has posted since it’s been up…. and somehow they are a level 2.

I’m still at the point where no one can post comments.

They can post new posts, however. Just no comments. Clicking submit looks like it only refreshes the page.
(of course typing in the exact same comment tells them they already said that?!?!?!)

So the comments are in the database? You could check this. If they are, perhaps the code to show the comments is missing in the template? Just a guess.

WTH? they are all marked as SPAM.

    Huh?

    Ha!!!

Found this post that was the solution.
It would seem that of all the blogs I host, this is the only one that runs into this issue with proxies…

Perhaps more people posting from work to this one than the others.

    Thanks!
