ONLY default permalinks are working

Having an issue with the permalinks again.. I can’t get any of the /%postname%/ ones to work with BOTH WP pages (about us, terms, blog, etc) and WPEC (Version 3.8.12.1)
It seems to only work globally with it set to default.
If I use only postname, it always redirects to the home page (store front in this case) If I add index.php/%postname%/ it works for the WP pages but 404s for the product pages.
if I try /%catagory%/%postname%/ it just links back to store page again.
etc.
The .htaccess file is being properly generated each time.
A little help here please.
