    Hi Guys,

I just created a new website, everything is newly installed. However, I get 404 errors everywhere. I found out that my pages, articles, etc only work when I use default permalinks, but I want to use /%postname%/.

I’ve already searched on Google and this forum, I didn’t manage to fix this problem. .htaccess is rewritable, switching to default and then back to postname doesn’t help.

Does anyone know what to do? It works fine on my other websites (same host).

    Thank you.

  • Contact AWS support and ask them for instructions on how to enable “pretty permalinks” for your web site.

They also have user FAQ and How To Docs. The procedure may vary depending on what hosting package you’ve chosen (I see an nginx reference in your server response) but this is a basic/common set of guidelines for WordPress on an AWS linux instance.

Note the section under: “To allow WordPress to use permalinks” for info that may be of help. Otherwise, contact your support group for any specific instructions for your server package.
