    Hi,

We just updated from PHP 7.x to 8.3, and since then I can only insert full size images into posts. We used to default to a smaller size, but even the list of size choices has vanished for any newly-uploaded images. The only option I have is Full Size or, once the image has been inserted, Custom Size.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @iainpurdie

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, <strong>without affecting normal visitors to your site</strong>. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

There’s a more detailed description about how to use the Health Check plugin and its Troubleshooting Mode at https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/

Hey, sorry for the delay. I don’t often get the time to tinker with the website until weekends! I’m going to try Health Check now and see where it gets me…! Thanks.

Sorted! First thing that Health Check picked up on was that a couple of PHP modules (gd and imagick) were disabled. I popped back to my host’s configuration, ticked the boxes and voila, fixed. I kind of assumed when I updated that it would bring the previous module settings with it which it has as I’ve moved up the PHP7 versions. Looks like it doesn’t do the same when you jump up a major version.

    Thank you!
