My posts are creating fine, and they appear on the index page, but when I click any of the links on the page I see a 404. I don’t think it’s a problem with the wordpress directory – while I did change the default to “/files”, I followed the directions carefully, and also added “/files” to the front of the permalink structure.

It seems like the files – archives, categories, etc. – simply aren’t being created and/or uploaded. I don’t see them in the files directory, the root directory, or anywhere. For example, if I edit the About page I’ve created, I’ll see the text there in WordPress, but if I click ‘view’ I see a 404, and I can’t find the page anywhere in the file structure.

I’m using 2.0.2 (that’s the most recent I can get with yahoo hosting). Blog address is politicalrelief.com. Theme is Ocadia 1.1.
    Thanks!

    2. Search for topics with your host… on Y! nothing is like on any normal server.

I’ll check out the Permalinks help file again. Looks like I may need to create .htaccess file.

Also just realized it’s not actually a 404 page I’m getting but a 500 Internal Error page.

    cheers

Well, the some of the help pages soon got more complicated than I could understand, I re-installed wordpress, this time not changing any defaults, and everything seems to be working again-

HOWEVER, there is still something odd. I cannot see or access the files (posts, archives, pages, etc.) either through FTP or my host’s control panel. They clearly exist, because I can access them through a browser, but why aren’t they visible like the other directories?

I cannot see or access the files (posts, archives, pages, etc.) either through FTP or …

No, they don’t exist. There are no such files.
All the data is in the… database!

Ok, I have to learn more about PHP! Looks like all is good then, Thanks!
