    Hi:

As you are aware my entire site is now on AMP Standard, and works brilliantly. Only one page turns up an error when the WordPress Customizer is used. All other pages and posts are fine. I have also cut down the CSS on my site quite drastically.

The page that gives trouble is: [ redundant link removed ]

The error I get is: “Failed to prepare AMP page”

Would youplease be able to help?

    Regards, and thanks in advnace.

    Hello @shobha2208

Your site may have a PHP error that may be originated from another plugin or your theme, you might have seen some error stack with that error message, I will recommend copy-pasting that error message here to determine the issue.

    Hi Milind:

The page shows this message: (I have no clue what it means or what to do)

    —————–

    Failed to prepare AMP page

A PHP error occurred while trying to prepare the AMP response. This may not be caused by the AMP plugin but by some other active plugin or the current theme. You will need to review the error details to determine the source of the error.

If you get stuck, you may want to share any details in a new topic on the plugin’s support forum.

The exact details of the error are hidden for security reasons. To learn more about this error, enable the WordPress debugging display (by setting both WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY to true), or look into the PHP error log. Learn more about Debugging in WordPress.`

    Hello @shobha2208

Please send the error log using this form, If error log is too long, please look for fatal errors send only that part.

    Thread Starter Shobha2208

    (@shobha2208)

    Hi Milind:

I tried sending your form but it refused saying it was too big. I then looked through the PHP error log but it has no word “fatal” anywhere on it.

Only one thing: when I was trying to fill the form, there was a recommendation on the Site Health Status page of my site that for AMP “persistent object caching is not enabled”.

Unable to send the Error Log as it is otherwise too large to post here or even in your form.

Can you please add those logs in pastebin.com or gist.github.com as suggested by moderators

    Hi Milind:

I had to paste in 4 consecutive files to avoid exceeding their limits.

my pastes of the whole file are in:

    https://pastebin.com/u/Shob2208

See Solopaste1, Solopaste2, Solopaste3, Solopaste4 … in that order I have included the whole file.

My pastebin files can be seen in my username Shob2208.

I have sent a previous message with the link to my pastebin page but it seems held back for moderation due to the link in the message.

    Hello @shobha2208

Thanks for the error log, from your site’s error log I see that you have excessive CSS added which may be blocking the Customizer.

the excerpt of the error log: https://pastebin.com/YiWaCzue

To debug this issue first make sure you are able to access the developer tool for AMP, ie you can see AMP has a submenu Validation tool and error index if no then goto Users->Profile->enable AMP developer Tools (screenshot)

Next visit subscribe page to check which plugin or theme is excedding your site CSS budget goto Admin Toolbar->AMP->CSS Usages (screenshot)

Clicking on it will take you to a page where you can find which plugin or theme is overbudgeting CSS

I will recommend finding an alternative to that plugin on the AMP ecosystem page

    Hi Milind:

I did as you said and found one plugin Tabs Responsive that was a huge problem, so I deleted it as it was not even necessary for me.

Incidentally, the other two minor issues were Genesis theme itself (very small percentage) and wp-includes (which is 24%) but I don’t know if I can touch that I think, because it’s part of Genesis? Don’t know what I should do.

After removal of Tabs Responsive plugin, the CSS has gone down from 138% to 72%. But still that one page in the customizer gives that error. All other pages are fine.

    Hi Milind:

    Many new issues:

    1. Suddenly now a lot of ages and posts are returning the same AMP error that was seen on one page.

    2. Plus the main images of blog posts and pages are leaving large spaces above and below them although I am using the same code as before.

    3. Also if I try to make some images larger (100% width) for @media small screens using the i-amphtml fill content css, it enlarges all the social share buttons also. How to handle this?

I don’t know if it will help but I found this page on AMP for Genesis … https://studiopress.github.io/genesis/developer-features/amp/

    Regards,

    Shobha
