Currently, my map API is broken and am not able to get it working. I linked the Yoast blog article that Google has changed it’s API to only one key.

Instead of it being the Browser and Site key.

Is there any plan on updating your plugin to work with the new API key? Or should I try and find another plugin that works?

    Thanks,

  • Hi there, thanks for reaching out.

The article you mention is related to the Yoast SEO plugin for their Yoast Local SEO feature, but that configuration instructions are not related in any way to the way Wp Store Locator works, so you should rather follow the instructions in our documentation for creating the mandatory set of API keys, they are still valid and the only way to make Wp Store Locator work.

    All the best,

@mitchscholsvancouver also, what shows up when you click on ‘show response’ on the WPSL settings page ( API section )?

The error you have now, will be likely result in the exact same error with other plugins that use Google Maps.

    Hey Tijmen,

Originally, it said that I needed to setup billing for my Google Cloud account (Which I did) but now I’m getting the following error:

    There's a problem with the provided?server key.

Error message: This API project is not authorized to use this API.

Check if your issue is covered in the?troubleshooting?section, if not, then please open a?support ticket.

Then again for the browser key:

    There's a problem with the provided?browser key.

You will have to open the?browser console?(?ctrl?shift?k?in Firefox, or?ctrl?shift?j?in Chrome ) to see the error details returned by the Google Maps API.

The error itself includes a link explaining the problem in more detail.

Common API errors are also covered in the?troubleshooting section.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. When I went back into Google Cloud is only gives me one API key and apparently, according to the article with Yoast that is all that you get with the Google Maps API?

    Thanks!

Hi again, thanks for getting back.

Those errors when validating your API keys indicate that they are misconfigured or were not created properly, following all the steps in our article.

The server key error is probably related to the server key not having one or more of the following APIs enabled, as explained in our documentation:

The browser key error is probably related to misconfigured referrer restrictions when creating the key.

If you are still stuck and you need to provide more details on your error, you can also open a support ticket directly with us.

    I hope that helps.
