• UPDATED REVIEW from 2 stars to 4 — I originally had failures when trying to paste the full share URL of a Google Sheet into a WordPress page.

I also had been using the gdoc shortcode, but was using the entire URL because it was not clear that I should only be using the last part of the URL (the random letters and numbers. Documentation wasn’t too clear about that, but I realized it after finding a blog post about this plugin on a third-party plugin review website.

Now my only problem is that my sheet is displaying wildly differently than it looks in Google Sheets… but at least now that I am this far, I know it’s just a matter of playing with the options in the shortcode to get it where I want it. Upgrading this review to 5 stars will depend on the difficulty of this final step.

Actually, you should probably not be using just “the last part of the URL.” You should probably be using the entire URL.

Also, if you’re having trouble, it might be worth posting the shortcode you’ve used to the support forum (not a review thread), so that someone (probably me) can have a look at it.

Moreover, an overwhelming number of problems that people seem to have are actually the same issue, addressed many dozens of times over the course of years throughout the archives of this plugin’s support forum here on www.ads-software.com and elsewhere across the Web. I don’t know exactly what issue you’re running into (because you aren’t actually describing it in precise terms), but statistically speaking, it’s probably something that has been addressed many times before.

Now my only problem is that my sheet is displaying wildly differently than it looks in Google Sheets

That’s not a problem, that’s the point of the plugin. This plugin isn’t designed to make your website look like Google Sheets. It’s designed to make your data in Google Sheets look like native content on your website. That means the way your table looks is controlled mostly by your active WordPress Theme. If you want to change the way your table looks, change your site’s theme or at least its stylesheet. That’s what it’s there for.

This, by the way, is one of the things asked and answered on this plugin’s support forum many, many, many times over the years. Consider a more thorough read through this support forum if you haven’t yet done so?

Thanks for the 4-star review, in any case.
