Hi,

I have already installed SSL certificate on our site, and set a redirect directive to redirect from http to https in .htaccess. However, the redirect does not work in a subfolder. I describe the situation in details at https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/375300/redirect-http-to-https-does-not-work-on-subdir-where-another-instance-of-wordpre

I just wonder if I install your plugin for the WordPress instance under /blogs/, will it be able to solve my problem?

Hi @chcw,

It should work if you install Really Simple SSL on the subdomain as well. The plugin should determine the best way to configure your .htaccess automatically.

I think I am getting the same problem.

I have a WordPress blog at https://www.frantik-web.co.uk/franblog. If I access the link like so, it just loads the website https://www.frantik-web.co.uk and not the WordPress site. If I load the https link explicitly, then the site loads eg: https://frantik-web.co.uk/franblog/

This was working fine until recently. The things I have changed, updated to PHP 7.4 and updated to WordPress 5.5.1

I think in your case you can just enable the .htaccess 301 redirect in settings/ssl, which should resolve your issue.

The odd thing is, the 301 redirect is already enabled in the settings.

I have just created a new htaccess based on the following https://htaccessbook.com/htaccess-redirect-https-www/ and this seems to be working correctly. Not sure why the problem started though.

Went back into WP and also enabled “Enable WordPress 301 redirection to SSL” as it threw an error.

Hi there,

I have recently set up my website and noticed that it works for both http and https. I’m tracking the pages on Google Search Console and getting data for both pages.

Do I need to redirect the http pages to https? When I use the http page it comes up as not secure and I’m quite new to this so not sure of the best actions to take.

@lizrosling If you are using Really Simple SSL on this site, please enable the 301 redirect. That should redirect all users to https. The .htaccess redirect is preferred, as it works with caching and is faster than the WordPress (PHP) redirect.
