Only show [Sale] on the variation with a sale?

If you have a product with variations, and set one variation as on sale, it shows the [Sale] bubble on the whole product line and all variations.
This is super confusing for customers, as it looks like everything is on sale except just the one.
Is there a simple way to show only the variation that is on sale, with the [Sale] bubble?
