• Hi, for some reason, I haven’t done anything, no transfers, no new plugins, etc, but when I login to my dashboard, only the left side (the menu) is showing. No content under menus. I can’t update wordpress, can’t access plugins, nothing.

Not sure what to do or why this started.

    Please help. Thank you!

Not sure what version of wordpress this is, can’t tell.

  • Start troubleshooting by renaming the plugins folder on the server:

    wp-content
        plugins.HOLD

You will need to use FTP or Cpanel to do so – ask your hosting company if you don’t know how to do that on your server files.

    Okay, I’ve renamed it.

Okay, if that didn’t fix it, might be a theme problem so try renaming your active theme:

    wp-content
        themes
            duotive-fortune.HOLD

Make sure that you do have a copy of a default theme (twentyfifteen or twentyfourteen) in that folder – so WP can load it automatically when you rename yours.

thank you for your help. I’m working with my theme people on this now..and if that doesn’t work, will be calling my host.

I appreciate your time. Thanks again!

Hi, Okay..so this issue is not resolved I have been in touch with both my theme support people, as well as my host (hostgator) support. They all say that this is definitely a wordpress problem. I think I need someone advanced to help me with this issue.

    Please help!!!

Looks like that theme is still active on your site? Have you renamed it per the above?

I guess I’m not sure how to do that. I’m not certain this site is backed up and I can’t go in and do that. I’m afraid to rename it and mess it up. Please advise.

And I’m not sure what that means that it might be a theme proglem.

You will need to use FTP or CPanel to access your site files on the server to do this. Ask HostGator how to set that up if you don’t know how to use one of those.

Renaming it will just force WP to load a default theme – this is very standard troubleshooting. If that fixes the problem, that indicates something is going on with the theme to cause that problem. If it doesn’t fix the problem, change it back and enable debug –

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

But yes, it would be a good idea to back up the site first – see:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Backups

BTW, just checked and your site is running WP 3.3.2 – which is VERY outdated and very insecure!

So getting that updated should be part of getting this problem solved – at this point, you will need to do a series of manual updates – see:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress

You’ll need to check that your theme is compatible with the most recent version of WP!

That did it! Thank you. Once I updated manually to the new version I was able to get in. Thanks so much for your help!
