    Hi Dan!

Great plug-in, which I was hoping to use for a primary school website that I am developing in my spare time. However, I had some issues getting it to work and as it seems the [dg] shortcode only seems to display documents once they are attached to any page/post, but I have a number that are just uploaded and not attached. Am I am doing something wrong or is the intended functionality? Ideally I didn’t want to attach the documents to a page or post…

    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hey Andreas,

I’m glad you’re using this for such a worthwhile project.

What you are describing is the easiest way to use the plugin, however you can also use the ids parameter to include arbitrary attachments on any page.

The functionality is not very user-friendly yet, unfortunately. Long-term, I have some plans to make the process much more streamlined, but in the meantime you have to manually get the ids from each attachment in order to use ids.

There are a number of ways to find the id of an attachment, but one easy way is to just view the edit page for it. From my site, I pulled this partial URL: wp-admin/post.php?post=371&action=edit. The ID you would use to include this attachment in a document gallery is 371.

I hope that helps and please let me know if there is anything more I can do to help!

Happy to help, Andreas. I’m going to go ahead and mark this topic as resolved.

PS: A good rating would be a great way to help others find this plugin if you found it useful ??
